AN ANALYSIS OF VERBAL MODALIZATIONS USED IN FRENCH TEXTS PROMOTING TOURISM
Abstract
Every utterance is embodied with a message and implies the subjectivity of its enunciator which can be represented by verbal and non-verbal modalizations. This paper presents the results of a research on applying modality theory in the analysis of different modalities and forms of modalization employed in French articles promoting tourism from the online magazine routard.com, through which typical strategies in deploying modalities in such texts are identified. The results of this study also help highlight the significance of modalization analysis in teaching French for Tourism
