General Guidelines for Authors

1. Submissions to Journal of Inquiry into Languages and Cultures should present original, high-quality research results in the fields of language and culture. They must not have been previously published nor under consideration for publication elsewhere in any form. Manuscripts not accepted for publication are not returned to authors.  

2. The manuscripts should not exceed 12 A4 pages (including references and appendices), written font size 11 Times New Roman, 1.15 line spacing, all margins 2 cm, paragraphs spacing 6pt before and 3pt after.

3. The language used in the article should be scientific, transparent, precise, concise, and free of spelling errors. Manuscripts written in English must follow American English Spelling conventions. 

4. The article is encouraged to comply with the common structure of the scientific article, called IMRaD. After title and abstract, the article includes Introduction (research question, significance, review of background), Methods (data collection and analysis), Results and Discussion and conclusions. The article should also consist of references and appendices (if relevant). 

4.1. Title should directly reflect the main content of the manuscript, written in both English and Vietnamese. It should be concise and compact, not exceeding 15 words in length, in 14 font size, upper-case, bold, and centered. 

4.2. Abstract must be in both Vietnamese and English, reflecting the core content of the manuscript, with a minimum of 120 and a maximum of 150 words. It must be written font size 10, single spacing, margins 1cm left and right.

4.3. Key words are of importance to the content of the manuscript, written in both Vietnamese and English, with a maximum of 5 words and placed below the abstract. 

5. Figures and tables should be sequentially numbered (starting from number 1). Figure and table titles should be concise, not exceeding 12 words, written font size 10, and sources must be clearly cited of referenced. Table titles should be placed above the table, while figure, image and diagram titles should be placed below the figure, image or diagram. When referring to tables, figures or diagrams, authors must clearly specify their numbers (e.g. Table 1), avoid using phrases such as “the above figure” or “the table below”.  

6. In-text Citation should follow APA 7th referencing style. Besides, the Journal has additional regulations regarding the citation of authors and works written in Vietnamese and non-Latin script languages (see Appendix 1).

7. References at the end of the paper should be listed in alphabetical order of the authors’ surnames. Do not number the references (see Appendix 1).

8. Do not use footnote or acknowledgements.
