A RESEARCH ON THE STRUCTURE OF MIXING VIETNAMESE – ENGLISH LANGUAGE IN COMMUNICATION OF SELLERS IN BEN THANH MARKET, HO CHI MINH CITY

Abstract

Language contact is one of the aspects of socio-linguistics. The prominent results of the contact between two or more languages are the phenomenon of language interference and the phenomenon of language mixing. The phenomenon of mixed language has currently been a matter of concern to many social linguists, though the research history of this issue is somewhat slower than other phenomena. In this article, we conducted a survey on the structure of mixing Vietnamese - English language in communication of sellers in Ben Thanh Market with the aim of identifying morphological characteristics of this phenomenon in a certain kind of objects (sellers in trading daily). The research result contributes to reinforce the theories of code-mixing from Vietnamese language in practice.
