Abstract

The investigated students’ perceptions of the general components and requirements of the expected learning outcome of their curriculum are very limited. Although they all referred to communicative competence and linguistic competence when asked about the required, standard-based learning outcome, their perceptions of what components this learning outcome contains are low. Two common reasons cited to explain their limited perceptions are that they are not officially provided with information about the standard-based learning outcome and that when available, this information is not sufficient enough. On the basis of these findings, relevant suggestions have been made.
