Abstract

This study aims to explore the feedback of English majored students about the advantages and disadvantages of learning speaking skills via online platform Zoom Meetings. Participants include 218 freshmen of Faculty of English at University of Foreign Languages and International Studies, Hue University. Questionnaires and interviews were used to collect the data which were then analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively to find the answers to the research questions. The results of the study show that most of the students have a positive perception of learning speaking skills through Zoom Meetings. The research also reveals that this platform has both the advantages of a face-to-face class and the unique benefits of an online class. In addition, difficulties arising from students and Zoom Meetings are also mentioned. Recommendations are also made to promote the effectiveness of teaching and learning speaking skills online via the Zoom Meetings platform in the future.
