Abstract

This article presents the practice and effectiveness of using supplementary materials in English classes, level 3/6 at the Faculty of ESP, University of Foreign Languages, Hue University. It is proven that the course books which are currently in use do not meet the need of both learners and teachers. Using supplementary materials aims mainly at preparing students for the English proficiency exam level 3/6 at Hue University. Moreover, supplementary materials are believed to have varied content and bring about certain effects in English learning and teaching as well as testing and assessment.
