CONCEPTUAL METAPHORS FOR PHYSICAL BEAUTY IN VIETNAMESE

Abstract

In recent years, research on conceptual metaphors has attracted so much attention and there have been many research works on conceptual metaphors. However, most of them come from the concept of the source domain (animal, plant, water, fire 
human body, feeling...), not many works come from the concept of target domains to reset the mappings. Furthermore, in the study of conceptual metaphors, it is found that human category is a very common target domain in conceptual metaphors. The research has so far focused only on the human aspects of psychological emotions and senses. There is no independent research on the metaphorical mapping from the different source domains to the target domain of human appearance. The purpose of this article is to deepen the analysis of mapping in conceptual metaphors from different source domains to the target domain of human appearance beauty.
